Speech Language Pathology (SLP)
Our certified speech language pathologists (SLPs) have training in a wide variety of skill sets to improve communication, safety of swallowing, and to help our patients remain as independent as possible. Our SLPs evaluate and treat in the following areas:
- Swallowing issues (dysphagia)
- Language (e.g., aphasia post-stroke)
- Speech (e.g., dysarthria post-stroke, Parkinson’s)
- Cognitive-Communication (e.g. dementia)
- Voice (e.g., low volume, Parkinson’s)
- LSVT LOUD (Lee Silverman Voice Treatment)
LSVT LOUD is an effective speech treatment for individuals with Parkinson disease and other neurological conditions. The program improves vocal loudness by stimulating the muscles of the voice box (larynx) and speech mechanism through a systematic hierarchy of exercises. Our SLPs are trained LSVT LOUD therapists and will provide you with a personalized, intensive treatment plan in order to improve vocal quality.
- PESL (Pronouncing English as a Second Language)
PESL is a thorough program in pronunciation instruction designed for foreign-born individuals who are competent in English vocabulary and grammar but wish to improve the accuracy of their pronunciation.
